PERIRRHANTERIA
A perirrhanterion was a decorative open basin of water for symbolically purifying oneself before entering the temenos (the sanctuary area), in the Mediterranean region during the Archaic era and later. There are similar rituals of symbolic cleansing with special water in past and contemporary spiritual traditions throughout the world.
I am working with that idea of a vessel of spiritually purifying water, and striving for an ethereal beauty equal to the purpose. The original ancient perirrhanteria had a more rooted and regimented appearance than these. These are for the era we are coming into, ditching the 5000 years of domination, pyramidal culture, etc., and on to something much freer and melodious, creatively harmonious with the rest of the natural world, dancelike...
