Thinking about how much of the ancient world has gone back to dust, but that somehow memories of the hands that shaped and held the surviving pieces, and of their surroundings, linger nearby.
Archeologists refer to the form of this vessel as a "sauceboat", but it is usually considered to likely be a drinking cup. In bronze or gold, it might very well be reserved for ritual use.
